The pool opening season is just around the corner! Although the water may still be chilly, warmer days are on the horizon. So, when is the best time to get your pool ready?
đź“… In Oklahoma, several factors impact the timing of your pool opening, generally though, the ideal time is in April or early May.
Here are a few important considerations for opening your pool:
- **Weather Conditions**: The primary concern is to ensure that we’ve passed the last long freeze and that daytime temperatures are consistently between 60-70 degrees, or trending in that direction.
- **Cover Options**: Does your pool have a cover? If so, what type is it? Different covers offer varied levels of protection and ease of cleaning.
- **Cleaning Needs**: If your pool doesn’t have a cover and needs extra time for cleaning, we recommend opening it earlier. This allows sufficient time to get it cleaned and prepared for use.
- **Pool Features**: If your pool has water features like waterfalls or fountains, you may want to delay turning these on. They may require additional preparation and maintenance before use, as well as keeping the overall temperature of the water down.
- **Surrounding Trees**: Take a look around! If your backyard or your neighbor’s yard has trees, remember that they can cause a significant amount of debris and pollen in your pool during the Spring. Depending on the types of trees, we may suggest delaying the opening or keeping the cover on to reduce debris.
Considering all these factors, Clint and I say, “Open early, close late”. It’s better to get ahead of any issues and ensure you have enough time to address them rather than waiting until it’s too late to enjoy your pool.
